Last weekend, we visited Travelers Rest KOA Holiday in Travelers Rest, SC, and it turned out to be a delightful surprise! After our previous disappointing KOA visit, my expectations were low for this trip. Instead, we found a hidden gem close to home which we are awarding five stars.
Travelers Rest KOA Holiday is conveniently situated less than 40 minutes from our house in the town of Travelers Rest, nestled within the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains. This picturesque location not only makes for an easy escape but also offers stunning views that fully immerse you in nature.
From the moment we arrived, we were impressed. This wasn't your typical KOA; it felt more like a resort, featuring a cozy atmosphere with only 45 lots. The intimate size kept it friendly while still providing plenty of options for everyone.
Location: ★★★★★
The resort is just outside downtown Travelers Rest and super close to tons of attractions, making it a perfect spot to stay. You can hop over to Western North Carolina in no time and explore charming towns like Hendersonville or Brevard in under 20 minutes.
Travelers Rest, SC, is a delightful town full of chances for both adventure and chill time. Nestled at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, it’s your gateway to natural fun and cultural experiences. If you love the outdoors, you’ll enjoy the Swamp Rabbit Trail, a 22-mile paved path perfect for walking, running, and biking, which links Travelers Rest to nearby Greenville. Plus, Paris Mountain State Park is nearby, offering hiking trails, fishing spots, and peaceful picnic areas.
If you're into local vibes, Travelers Rest has a bunch of unique shops, restaurants, and cafés that really show off the area's lively character. Main Street is especially charming, with its boutique stores and farm-to-table dining spots. Be sure to check out the seasonal farmers' market, where locals come together to celebrate the region's produce and craftsmanship. Travelers Rest mixes small-town charm with easy access to South Carolina’s stunning landscapes, making it a place you’ll want to explore.
Site Quality: ★★★★★
We chose a Premium site that came with a big paved patio, Pollywood furniture, and a fire pit. Our spot was right across from all the cool stuff, like the swimming pool. It was a great place to chill and enjoy nature. Sadly, the weekend was pretty stormy, so we didn't get to spend much time outside. But whenever the rain stopped for a bit, it was the perfect spot to relax.
The best part was that we didn't have to do much to set up outside since the lot already had everything we needed, which saved us a lot of time and effort.
Amenities: ★★★★★
We were absolutely thrilled by the amazing amenities this KOA offered! There was something for everyone here, from a refreshing swimming pool and spotless bathhouses to exciting activities like gold mining and bull roping. Plus, there were fun games like a giant checkerboard and Connect Four, a fantastic playground, a dog park, and a convenient onsite store. You could easily spend your entire time here without ever wanting to leave!
Cleanliness: ★★★★★
The property and sites were exceptionally clean. They employ someone who cleans each site after a camper departs. The bathhouse and the poolside bathrooms were spotless and well-kept. The pool and surrounding grounds were also well-maintained.
Staff & Service: ★★★★★
Staff members were exceptionally welcoming, always ready to assist with a smile. Their dedication to maintaining the site's pristine condition was evident in every detail, from the spotless bathhouses to the meticulously cleaned camping spots. Their efforts truly enhanced our experience, making the stay feel both effortless and enjoyable.
6. Wi-Fi/Connectivity: ★★★★☆
The resort has Wi-Fi, but we didn't bother using it since we like to stick to our own secure Wi-Fi when we're traveling. Our connection was strong all weekend, and we had no issues at all.
7. Value For Money: ★★★★★
This resort offers unbeatable value. We chose a deluxe spot, which is a bit pricier at about $88 per night. Depending on the type of unit you're after, prices range from $69 to $95 a night.
8. Pet Friendly Environment: ★★★★★
Absolutely pet-friendly! They offer a fantastic dog run for your pups and convenient poop stations all around. Each lot features a lovely grassy patch, making potty time a breeze. While there might not be much grass around the resort, the dog run more than compensates for it. We missed out on the dog park fun due to the rain and mud, but it's there for sunnier days!

9. Luxury: ★★★★☆
We're thrilled to give this KOA 4 stars for luxury because of the incredible range of amenities they offer on site! You wouldn't normally expect luxury at a KOA, but this one is a delightful exception!
A Weekend Worth Repeating
Our rescheduled trip to Travelers Rest KOA Holiday surpassed all expectations. The warm hospitality, resort-like amenities, and ample exploration opportunities made this weekend a delightful surprise.
Finding a campground that reignites our enthusiasm for outdoor adventures, especially after a previous disappointment, is refreshing. The combination of comfort and connection at Travelers Rest makes it a top-notch destination for families, adventurers, and RV enthusiasts alike.
As our weekend wrapped up, we felt rejuvenated and excited for our next visit. For anyone seeking a unique camping experience nestled in the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains, Travelers Rest KOA Holiday is truly worth the journey.
