It’s been a while since our last update, but we’ve been busy exploring and settling into our new RV lot at Lake Greenwood Motorcoach Resort in Cross Hill, South Carolina. In early August, we embarked on our longest road trip yet, heading back to Pennsylvania to celebrate my nephew’s engagement and spend precious time with family. After that, we made our way to Geneva on the Lake, Ohio, where we discovered an incredible class A motorcoach resort called Motorcoach Resort Lake Erie Shores.

When you think of Ohio, it might not be the first destination that comes to mind. Walking into conversations, we could sense the confusion when we shared our travel plans; many questioned, “Ohio? What’s there?” I had the same thoughts before our trip, but I can confidently say that Ohio is a hidden gem you need to explore!

A Beach-Like Experience at Lake Erie

Lake Erie Shores has rapidly become one of our favorite resorts. The lively atmosphere, distinctive lots, and stunning landscapes left us amazed. From the moment we arrived, it felt like home. Each lot is spacious, providing more privacy and distance from your neighbors.

The amenities at this resort were so fantastic, you'd think they were sprinkled with fairy dust! Dive into the stunning pool area, or perfect your pickleball skills on the courts. Got a furry friend? There's a dog park and even a doggie spa for their pampering needs. Catch a flick at the movie theater or party it up at the clubhouse with Friday gatherings that are are hosted by the onsite realtor. All this, and just a hop, skip, and a jump across the street to the beach and the gorgeous Lake Erie. Feeling adventurous? A quick 5-minute bike or golf cart ride will whisk you to the boardwalk for a whole new adventure. And let's not forget, this resort is conveniently plopped right in the midst of 20+ wineries. Cheers to that!

Exploring Geneva on the Lake

Just a quick five-minute trip from the resort is downtown Geneva on the Lake, and you can get there by golf cart, bike, car or a nice walk. This cute area has a vintage vibe, making it feel like you've stepped back in time. Known as the "boardwalk" (even though it’s really a lively street), you'll find all sorts of shops, eateries, and even a firehouse winery where we had a lovely lunch with amazing views.

There's so much to do! From arcades and mini-golf to food spots and shopping, plus a charming donut shop, the area is buzzing with activities for everyone. We spent our afternoons checking out the local shops, enjoying tasty treats, and catching some sun by the lake.

If you're into wine or just love exploring wineries, the Geneva area is famous for its vineyards. The resort offers shuttle tours to take you around to each winery for a fun day out. There are also trails nearby that are perfect for hiking and enjoying the natural beauty around. Walking these trails lets you dive into the local plants and wildlife, giving you a refreshing break from the usual routine.

Culinary Delights

Food enthusiasts will find plenty to enjoy in Geneva on the Lake. We visited several local restaurants, each presenting a unique take on classic dishes. From fresh seafood to hearty comfort food, the culinary scene was impressive. Our favorite spot was Horizons, located inside The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake. Dining with a view was an understatement! This place offered one of the best vistas on the island, and the food was incredibly delicious. If you visit this area, be sure to add Horizons to your dining list, as you won't be disappointed. Additionally, if you don't have a motorcoach, The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake is a beautiful place to stay, offering stunning views right on the lake with its own private beach.

Becoming an Owner at Lake Erie Shores

At Lake Erie Shores resort, each lot is privately owned, and the place is buzzing with sales, expansion, and construction. Owners can really make their spaces their own, whether that's by setting up fancy outdoor areas or building full-on homes. It's way more flexible than your typical motorcoach resorts, and every spot has its own vibe.

The resort's mini ponds offer stunning views that make it easy to fall for the place. We stayed on lot 29, which had an awesome backdrop and a big patio. We enjoyed a great view of the pond and lots of grassy space, which our dogs loved for sunbathing with a view. It was the perfect spot for working remotely, thanks to the peaceful setting and the lovely weather that stayed in the 80s during our visit.

When we checked in, we got a list of lots for sale, which you can also find on the resort's website Motorcoach Resort Lake Erie Shores - Geneva on the Lake. There's an onsite sales team you can chat with about ownership options and a design center to help you plan. In the clubhouse, you can see what's coming next in the resort's development. It's a no-pressure sales environment, so no one bothered us about buying. They just gave us the info and contacts if we wanted to look into it. I liked that we weren't pushed to buy anything, which let us explore and decide at our own pace.

Conclusion

Our journey to Lake Erie Shores and Geneva on the Lake has opened our eyes to the beauty and charm of Ohio. It’s a destination that deserves more recognition, and we encourage fellow travelers to consider it for their next adventure. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing getaway or an action-packed vacation, this hidden gem has something for everyone.

As we continue to explore and settle into our new RV lifestyle, we look forward to sharing more updates and experiences. Ohio may not have been on our radar before, but it has certainly captured our hearts. So, pack your bags, hit the road, and discover the wonders that await you in this beautiful state!
